I am a landscape painter with the good fortune to live in this beautiful part of England as well as spending much of my time living and working in the French Pyrenees. Some of my paintings feature the mountains and vineyards of the Roussillon, but by far the greater part of my work is nostalgic, based on sketches and photographs and reflecting dreams and memories of the rolling patchwork fields and woodland landscape of the countryside on the Dorset/Wiltshire border where I grew up. It is the rhythm and pattern of the English countryside and the stories it tells that appeal to me as a painter

I started painting in America in the 80’s, when I opened a studio and art gallery on the North Shore of Long Island in partnership with an established local artist. The studio enabled me to study and work alongside several professional painters. On returning to the UK with a daughter to raise the financial pressure was on and the brushes had to be put aside for quite a few years while I pursued a different career

I finally became a full time artist in 2005. Initially studying with Dorset painter Clare Shepherd and later benefiting from a grant from Arts Matrix to work with her in a mentoring scheme. Since then I have exhibited in one woman and group shows in London and the South West of England as well as the South of France.
