Plain Arts Christmas Fair, Salisbury Library
With the sun shining and the weather still warm, its hard to start thinking about the winter season, but no doubt things will soon change and Christmas will be with us before we know it!
The date for our annual Plain Arts Christmas Fair, to be held in the foyer of Salisbury Library, is likely to be Saturday 14th November (tbc)
I hope to confirm the date to our members next week. As in previous years, members will be able reserve a table to sell smaller items, gifts and cards for just £10. This has proved a popular event in the past and is a great opportunity for those who like to make an earlier start to their Christmas shopping.

This year, we are also hoping to try something a little different!
Following the success of Salisbury Art Trail 2026, we know many of our members are keen to open up their studios once again and provide opportunities for visitors to wander around, view and purchase work by local artists for Christmas.
We are hoping to coordinate this and combine publicity with our Christmas Fair and Winter Exhibition. This would not be a full on Winter Art Trail, but would instead be an opportunity to coordinate and promote open studio events happening over one weekend, and linked with the Christmas Fair. We would produce an A4 flyer/poster with numbered map and simple list of open studios, encouraging locals and visitors to 'wander around this wonderland' . The event would be promoted by individual venues and centrally via our usual channels to maximise awareness.
In order to avoid conflict with other popular events, we are suggesting the weekend of Fri, Sat, Sun 13th -15th November, with venues choosing which of these days and times they wish to open.

Salisbury 800
In 2027, Salisbury marks 800 years since receiving its royal charter.This moment shaped Salisbury’s identity, its rights and its historic Charter Market.
From May to Novemeber, the city will come alive with events, exhibitions performances, talks, trails and community projects celebrating our history, creativity and future. This anniversary is a chance to explore our past, showcase today’s talent and imagine our future.
We aim to be part of that celebration with a special exhibition "Celebrating Salisbury" to be held in June. We have also submitted a bid to Salisbury Culture’s Small Grants programme to help fund another exciting project linked to this celebration. More information to follow IF successful!
